Projects currently include a historical marker on the site and a map for a guided driving tour of the former base.  Future projects may include a veteran’s museum and other ways to share memorabilia related to the history of Chennault.

“It is truly a privilege to be part of bringing the history of Chennault Airbase back to Lake Charles. This moment is not only an honor, but something that is very dear to my heart.
My father and two of my uncles were stationed at Chennault Airbase, and this place holds an especially personal meaning for me because I was born there on September 13, 1962. Being able to see the legacy and history of Chennault recognized and celebrated again is incredibly meaningful, and it fills me with pride to know that such an important part of our community’s history is being remembered and honored for future generations.”
