The Foundation aims to be as transparent as possible.

We are here to answer questions about how we work and our finances. Below, we've provided easy access to our public documents - an IRS Determination Letter and IRS 990 Forms. As well, we have included our annual reports.

Incorporation

The Foundation was started as the United Way of Southwest Louisiana Community Foundation in 2001 and converted to the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana in 2008, when a new independent board was appointed to oversee it. The Foundation complies with national and state laws that govern nonprofits.

The IRS requires nonprofits to file their finances in a uniform document. Links below are all the 990 forms of the Foundation on record with the IRS. 

A little note: Our operations are paid for with a fee on the charitable accounts under management, which amount to more than $9 million in assets; and financial backing by our Supporters.

Annual Reports

The Foundation has issued an annual report in late summer of each year. The reports include governance, grants, a list of supporters/members and of donor funds, and the  results of our grant making.

Our Fund Donors and the Foundation have granted over $12 million to nonprofits since 2008.
