The City of Lake Charles and the Mayor’s Committee for the 1st Lt. Douglas B. Fournet Memorial are co-sponsoring a project to erect a statue of 1st Lt. Fournet at Veterans Memorial Park. 1st Lt. Fournet was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his selfless act of sacrifice during the Vietnam War in May of 1968.
Lake Charles was Doug’s hometown and this statue will serve as a visible reminder, not only of his valor and sacrifice, but of the collective sacrifices made on our behalf by all of the military men and women whose names are inscribed on the bricks at the park.
This Fund was created under a cooperative endeavor agreement with Mayor Randy Roach and the City of Lake Charles.
Donations to the Fund are tax-deductible. 
The Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana's online donations are processed by our sister organization, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, and deposited in the 1st Lt. Douglas B. Fournet Memorial Fund.
